What are the presenting symptoms of this disease?
Most people with polio will have flu-like symptoms such as,
- Sore throat
- Fever
- Tiredness
- Nausea
- Headache
- Stomach pain
The symptoms usually last 2-5 days before going away
Very few people with polio will develop more serious symptoms that affect the brain or the spinal cord such as
- Paresthesia (feeling of pins and needs in the leg
- Meningitis (infection that covers the spinal cord or the brain)
- Paralysis (can't move parts of the body)

Polio can be lethal if it is not treated but once a person becomes infected there is no cure
